National Merit Scholarship Path
The National Merit Scholarship is awarded based on PSAT performance in October of junior year. With the right preparation timeline, students can reach peak performance exactly when it matters most.
The National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes top PSAT scorers nationwide. Qualification is based on a student’s PSAT taken in October of junior year, making it one of the most important standardized tests for high-achieving students.
Students who score around 1450+ on a mock SAT as rising 10th graders are strong candidates to pursue this pathway with focused, early preparation.
By completing SAT preparation early, students enter junior year with strong mastery and confidence. The short PSAT-focused phase then sharpens performance specifically for the exam that determines National Merit recognition. This allows students to perform at their peak when it matters—and move beyond standardized testing early to focus on academics, research, and meaningful career development.

Provident Scholars is intentionally designed around efficiency rather than intensity. The program focuses on early, guided preparation so students do not need to engage in last-minute, high-volume test prep that crowds out more meaningful academic and career development. Rather than repeatedly administering full-length SAT exams, instruction concentrates on one subject at a time—SAT Math or SAT English—allowing students to build mastery steadily while preserving time for research, extracurriculars, and long-term growth.
Our SAT Pathways
Students may begin with Lectures for structured content review or enter Practice & Performance if they already have strong subject knowledge.

Provident Scholars offers a modern SAT preparation program built on real performance data, adaptive test simulations, and expert instruction. Students don’t just study content—they train under conditions that closely mirror the actual digital SAT, with guidance tailored to their individual strengths and weaknesses.
Provident Scholars combines advanced SAT technology with expert instruction to deliver personalized, authentic test preparation—without premium pricing.
To support the sustainability of our educational programs and scholarships, a one-time, non-refundable registration fee of $300 is required for new students. This fee is waived for returning students who have previously participated in our classes. In keeping with our commitment to community growth, students who refer a friend at the time of registration will have the registration fee waived for both the referring student and the referred student.
Tuition is $300 per month per class, with classes meeting once per week. Monthly tuition helps fund instructional services, program materials, and need-based scholarship opportunities. Payments are due on or before the 5th of each month and partial months are not prorated. We accept cash, check, Zelle, and Stripe.
Summer Term Adjustment: For the summer session, tuition is $600 per month per class due to increased instructional frequency, with classes meeting twice weekly. Standard payment policies apply.
At Provident Scholars, we are committed to making high-quality education accessible to all. Our Visiting Tutor service offers private, on-location tutoring—at a student’s home or a local library—to support students in neighborhoods with limited access to academic resources.
Sessions are available by appointment during times that do not conflict with our existing SAT prep classes or Providence Program office hours. A flat fee of $300 per hour is charged, with 100% of the proceeds directed to our annual scholarship fund.
To make this service more affordable, we encourage families to gather a small group of students and host the session in a shared space. The hourly rate remains the same regardless of the number of participants, allowing families to split the cost and extend the opportunity to more students.

Provident Scholars offers academic support through affordable paid classes and free weekly tutoring sessions, open to all middle and high school students in need. By removing financial and informational barriers, we aim to ensure that no student with potential is left behind due to lack of access, guidance, or support.
